Winter 2015-16 – Summary

While the UK recorded its warmest winter, it was a phenomenon that passed us by. Temperatures here at Askernish were “average” with a mean (1 minute) temperature of 6.2°C for the winter period.

The only other statistics of note were that there were only 34 days when the sun shone, the fewest recorded in winter, 21.8mm of rain fell on the 28th December making it our wettest winter day, and the maximum pressure of 1031.94mb on the 15th February was the lowest maximum recorded for winter.

Apologies for the shorter than usual summary. This was due to the station being unmanned for most of the winter period.
